ExGen Career-Connected Ecosystem Framework

The ExGen Career-Connected Learning Ecosystem Framework helps districts build stronger, more coherent Career-Connected Learning systems from PK–12 and beyond. It provides a practical way to look at leadership, district capacity, learning design, and community partnerships so schools and districts can create high-quality experiences that connect academic learning to real-world skills, careers, and future pathways.

The framework also includes developmental rubrics districts can use to reflect on current practice, identify strengths and gaps, and plan next steps for continuous improvement.

The ExGen Career-Connected Learning Ecosystem Companion Guide is the practical “how” behind the framework. While the framework defines what a strong Career-Connected Learning ecosystem looks like, the companion guide helps districts put that vision into action through examples, tools, planning supports, and implementation strategies.

It is designed to help districts move from reflection to action by identifying next steps, aligning existing systems, and strengthening practice across leadership, capacity, learning design, and partnerships. The full Companion Guide is available through BVEF-supported implementation and professional learning partnerships.
