​Inquiry Across the Curriculum

The process of learning through inquiry strengthens critical thinking and everyday life skills in students and is an important component of classroom instruction. Participants of this course engage as learners in an inquiry based unit, reflect on the teacher and student roles and explore the strategies involved in planning and executing cross-curricular inquiry-based unit plans. The session will end with participants unit planning for their own schools and classrooms, which may adapt existing HQI curricula or be developed entirely from scratch to meet specific learning goals.

Session Objectives:

• Experience the inquiry-based learning process from a learner’s perspective.

• Analyze the roles and responsibilities of teachers and students in inquiry-based instruction.

• Explore strategies for designing and implementing cross-curricular inquiry-based unit plans.

• Create actionable inquiry-based unit plans customized for individual school and classroom contexts.
