New for 2021-2022 - Women in STEM Leadership Academy!

Updated: Nov 29, 2021

On Saturday, November 20, BVEF and Worcester Polytechnic Institute celebrated the start of a new program, Women in STEM Leadership Academy (WISLA). This in-person, STEM curriculum takes place over a 5 month period on the WPI campus. Trained WPI undergraduate students, graduate students, and faculty will be providing hands-on, project-based education helping participants gain a better understanding of the engineering design process.

Students will experience first-hand the importance of STEM in everyday life as well as career applications. They will identify, develop, and practice personal leadership skills while learning concrete ways that leadership efforts help to grow business throughout the Blackstone Valley. WISLA incorporates deep human skills such as interpersonal skills, teamwork strategies, and problem-solving; all of which are key factors to workforce success. At the conclusion of the program, students will be provided with resources and tools to continue their journey in leadership and STEM.
