Blackstone Valley Youth Leadership Academy Students Complete Community Service Projects

Updated: May 24, 2022

Over the last 6 months, 25 freshmen and sophomore students from BVEF full member high schools took part in this year’s Blackstone Valley Youth Leadership Academy (BVYLA). As part of the curriculum, students must create and implement a local community service project and write a press release for their design. BVYLA seeks to develop the skills necessary for students to become leaders in their schools, communities, and future workforce. On May 3, a graduation ceremony was held at Asa Waters Mansion in Millbury, MA. Graduates had the opportunity to share their projects in the mansion before moving outside for a graduation ceremony. Keynote speaker and BVYLA alumni, Karni Murray, addressed the students and offered 8 lessons she has learned since graduating from BVYLA. Most importantly, she reminded students and attendees of the importance of "maintaining a Learning Mindset and always being open to learning something new everyday!" Congratulations to the BVYLA Class of 2022!
