BLACKSTONE VALLEY
YOUTH LEADERSHIP ACADEMY

With a challenging six month curriculum that culminates with the creation and implementation of individual service projects, BVYLA seeks to develop the leadership skills of an annual cohort of eight and ninth grade students representing full member school districts.  By meeting at different locations throughout the Blackstone Valley, students learn about both the rich history in each community as well as the skills necessary to become leaders in their schools, communities, and future workforce.

Did you know that Critical Thinking and Problem Solving are integral parts of the Youth Leadership Academy?

Employers say they value employees who demonstrate critical thinking and problem solving.

The BVYLA program is an opportunity to forge new relationships and to experience accountability outside of the classroom, which can build self-esteem, self-awareness, and self-confidence among those who have not yet experienced those milestones. If you are interested in participating in this unique experience, please contact your school counselor to learn about the process for your school.

If you have any questions, please contact Holly McNeil, hmcneil@BVeducationfoundation.org .
